In 2022, the Gaudium Magnum Foundation – Maria and João Cortez de Lobão co-sponsored the conference Liderança Responsável para um Portugal com Futuro, hosted by Universidade Católica Portuguesa in partnership with Jornal Expresso. Held at the University as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the event brought together leaders from business, academia, civic engagement, and media to explore the role of ethical leadership in shaping Portugal’s future.

The program included the presentation of the study Liderança Responsável: em que consiste e que caminho para Portugal? (Responsible Leadership: what it means and what path for Portugal?) by Nuno Moreira da Cruz and Francisca Saldanha from Católica Lisbon’s Center for Responsible Business & Leadership, followed by a high-level debate on values and practices of responsible leadership. Among the speakers were Isabel Ucha (Euronext Lisbon, Board of Directors), João Pedro Tavares (Gaudium Magnum Foundation, Board of Directors), Ricardo Pires (SEMAPA, CEO), and Rita Sousa Almeida (Católica’s Student Union President), with moderation by SIC journalist Ana Peneda Moreira.

By supporting this initiative, the Foundation reinforced its commitment to ethical business practices, leadership development, and civic responsibility — essential pillars for building a more resilient and inclusive society.
