Post-Doctoral Research Grant at Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana

The Gaudium Magnum Foundation is supporting a postdoctoral research project dedicated to the Portuguese early modern holdings at the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana (BAV). Led by Dr. Luana Giurgevich, researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, the project will catalogue rare 16th-century materials, trace how they entered the BAV collection, and contribute to an academic publication. Alongside this, the Foundation will produce an illustrated book highlighting some of the most exceptional Portuguese pieces at BAV— bringing these often overlooked treasures to life for a wider audience and opening new doors for dialogue and discovery.

Educational and Cultural Support for High School Students

The Gaudium Magnum Foundation believes that talent exists everywhere — but opportunity does not. That belief is at the heart of the student support program, which began even before the Foundation’s official creation, as a personal commitment by the founders. Today, it is a cornerstone of the Foundation’s mission, rooted in the promotion of education and cultural engagement. In partnership with three Lisbon schools — Colégio de São Tomás, Colégio Mira Rio, and Colégio Planalto — the program provides more than financial assistance. It challenges students to reflect, create, and share their vision, and to build a lasting connection with the Foundation.

Each year, the Foundation presents a new challenge designed to bring students closer to its mission, encouraging them to engage with Old Masters and reflect on cultural themes that remain relevant today.
