Educational Resources for Families at the MNAA
Through collaborative educational initiatives at the MNAA, the Foundation supports family-focused learning experiences that encourage close looking, creativity, and engagement with European painting.
These educational activities invite families to explore how European painting reflects everyday life, artistic techniques, and cultural practices between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. Inspired by selected works from the MNAA collection, in dialogue with paintings from the Gaudium Magnum Collection on loan to the museum, the activities encourage close looking and imaginative engagement with the worlds depicted — from music and performance to landscapes and scenes of daily life.
Each educational leaflet presents a series of playful challenges designed to sharpen observation and curiosity. Families are encouraged to examine clothing and gestures, identify objects and musical instruments, follow light and composition, and discover how artworks relate to their historical context and artistic practice. Children are also invited to draw, complete patterns, and imagine missing elements, engaging creatively with the works on display.
Developed in partnership with the MNAA, these leaflets form part of a series of free educational materials available at the museum. Through attentive looking and hands-on activities, families are encouraged to connect with art in an accessible and meaningful way, discovering the stories and ideas embedded in each painting.
