The Gaudium Magnum & Fulbright Grant
Through its renewed partnership with Fulbright Portugal, the Foundation supports advanced academic exchange by enabling new research and teaching projects focused on the arts of Portuguese-speaking countries within an international framework.
The Gaudium Magnum Foundation — Maria and João Cortez de Lobão has renewed its protocol with the Fulbright Commission Portugal, reaffirming its commitment to academic advanced research and academic exchange. As the main part of this partnership, the Fulbright Grant supported by the Gaudium Magnum Foundation is available again from 1 November 2025 until 15 of January 2026.
This grant is aimed at Portuguese PhD-level professors and researchers wishing to develop a teaching or research project in the United States, specifically within the field of Curatorial Studies — encompassing Curatorship, Art Theory, Art History, the Arts and Fine Arts, and Museology, with particular emphasis on the arts of Portuguese-speaking countries in the early modern period. Candidates will benefit from the academic environment and institutional network provided by the Fulbright Program.
To support applicants throughout the process, the Fulbright Commission offers a comprehensive set of resources, including detailed documentation, application guidelines, and an online webinar that clarifies the main steps and some specific requirements of the institution.
