Supporting the Renovation of Museu do Caramulo
By supporting the renewal of museum spaces, the Foundation contributes to long-term cultural infrastructure, enhancing curatorial presentation and public engagement with diverse artistic and historical collections.
In 2021, the Gaudium Magnum Foundation supported the renovation of the Museu do Caramulo, one of Portugal’s iconic museums. Open since 1959, the museum is home to a remarkable collection that spans art, automobiles, and antique toys.
The project, led by a team of architects and curators and awarded the Gulbenkian Foundation’s Vilalva Prize, focused on modernizing the galleries, lighting, and exhibition design. With this renewal, the museum’s diverse collections — from Roman antiquities to Picasso — were once again presented in a way that highlights their richness and deepens the visitor experience.
