Xavier F. Salomon

Director of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon

Xavier F. Salomon is Director of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon. Previously, he was Deputy Director and Peter Jay Sharp Chief Curator at the Frick Collection, New York (2014–25); Curator of Southern Baroque in the Department of European Paintings at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (2010–14); and Arturo and Holly Melosi Chief Curator at Dulwich Picture Gallery, London (2006–10). He was educated at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. His main areas of expertise are art and patronage in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Rome and Venice and the painters Paolo Veronese and Rosalba Carriera.
