Michele Nicolaci

Curator at the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice

Michele Nicolaci trained at the Sapienza University of Rome, where he earned his PhD with a dissertation on the painter Giovanni Baglione (1566–1643). A specialist in 17th-century painting, with a particular focus on Caravaggism, he has also researched the world of cardinal collecting in the 16th century and art criticism. Having won a public competition, he has been an art history officer at the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice since 2017, where he is responsible for 17th-century painting and educational services.
