Mauro Minardi
Art historian specialising in Italian late Mediaeval and Renaissance painting
Mauro Minardi is an independent art historian specialising primarily in Italian late Mediaeval and Renaissance painting. He has published two monographs on the Salimbeni da Sanseverino brothers and Paolo Uccello, as well as numerous essays on painting in central Italy and the central-northern Adriatic region. His research method is based on philology and connoisseurship, and on a study of the circumstances in which works of art were commissioned. His interests include the history of primitive art collecting at the turn of the 19th century and the relationship between the figurative arts and literature in the same period.
