Marco Riccòmini

Art historian specialising in 17th and 18th Italian painting

Marco Riccòmini holds a degree in Modern Literature. After training professionally in London, he ran the Old Masters Department for the Finarte Casa d’Aste auction house in Milan (1992–97) before holding the position of Director and Head of Department of the Old Masters Department of Christie’s Italy (2005–15). He has written a variety of articles published in national and international magazines, exhibition and museum catalogues, and several books including Donato Creti. Le opere su carta (Allemandi 2012), Giuseppe Maria Crespi. I disegni e le stampe (Allemandi 2014), I Gandolfi. Disegni della raccolta Certani alla Fondazione Giorgio Cini (Marsilio 2018), Un Breve incanto. Dizionario semiserio del mercato dell’arte (La nave di Teseo 2021) and I Carracci agli Uffizi (Silvana Editoriale 2023). He runs a monthly column (Il Viaggiator Cortese) (The Courteous Traveller) in “The Art Newspaper” (Italian edition). He has recorded several episodes for the radio programme Le Meraviglie (The Wonders) hosted on Italian state broadcaster Rai’s Radio 3 channel. Working in conjunction with film director Giulia Giapponesi, he has also written and presented the documentaries I Carracci, The silent revolution (2019), and Guercino – An Art Love Story (2023).
