Françoise Joulie

Art historian specialising in 18th century French drawing and painting

Françoise Joulie, who holds a doctorate in history, is a former student and lecturer at the Ecole du Louvre. She joined the Graphic Arts Department of the Musée du Louvre in 1984, specialising in the study of 18th century French drawings and of François Boucher. She curated the exhibitions held to mark the 250th anniversary of Boucher’s birth in Paris (Musée du Louvre and Ecole des Beaux-Arts), Versailles, Dijon and London in 2003-4. She has continued to publish and to curate exhibitions on the topic (Karlsruhe, 2020) and is currently working on a book entitled «Boucher and the Manufactory of Beauvais» (forthcoming).
