Francesca Baldassari

Art historian specialising in 17th and 18th century Florentine painting

The author of five monographic works (Carlo Dolci, in the first Italian edition published in 1995 and in the second edition in English published in 2015; Cristoforo Munari, 1999; Gian Domenico Ferretti, 2002; Simone Pignoni, 2008; Cecco Bravo, 2024) and the curator of numerous exhibitions on Tuscan 17th and 18th century painting over the years, Francesca Baldassarri qualified as an associate professor in 2017. She has been a visiting professor at the Università degli Studi di Padova and at the Università La Sapienza in Rome.

She is currently preparing a monographic work on the painter Jacopo Vignali, Carlo Dolci’s master, due to be published in 2026.

She has over 100 publications to her name including articles in specialist periodicals, essays in exhibition catalogues and contributions to Festschrifts.
